Best New Innovation Award
Draperstown based Rainvault won the Best New Innovation award at the Invest NI Innovation & Export Awards 2009. The awards, organised by Invest NI in association with Ulster Bank, aimed to recognise businesses from across Northern Ireland for their outstanding achievements in innovation, exporting and business excellence. Rainvault won £10,000 of support out of a total prize fund worth £105,000.

Innovator of the Year Award
Crumlin-based Randox Laboratories won the Innovator of the Year award at the Invest NI Innovation & Export Awards 2009. The awards, organised by Invest NI in association with Ulster Bank, aimed to recognise businesses from across Northern Ireland for their outstanding achievements in innovation, exporting and business excellence. Randox Laboratories won £25,000 of support out of a total prize fund worth £105,000.

Best Emerging Exporter Award
Larne-firm, InspecVision won the Best Emerging Exporter award at the Invest NI Innovation & Export Awards 2009. The awards, organised by Invest NI in association with Ulster Bank, aimed to recognise businesses from across Northern Ireland for their outstanding achievements in innovation, exporting and business excellence. InspecVision won £10,000 of support out of a total prize fund worth £105,000.

Exporter of the Year Award
Craigavon based Almac Group won the Exporter of the Year award at the Invest NI Innovation & Export Awards 2009. The awards, organised by Invest NI in association with Ulster Bank, aimed to recognise businesses from across Northern Ireland for their outstanding achievements in innovation, exporting and business excellence. Almac won £25,000 of support out of a total prize fund worth £105,000.

Business Excellence Award
Derry City based Singularity won the top Business Excellence Award at the Invest NI Innovation & Export Awards 2009. The awards, organised by Invest NI in association with Ulster Bank, aimed to recognise businesses from across Northern Ireland for their outstanding achievements in innovation, exporting and business excellence. Singularity, a world leader in business process software innovation, won £35,000 of support out of a total prize fund worth £105,000.

Hall of Fame 2008-09
Denis Rooney was announced as the latest inductee into Invest NI’s entrepreneurial Hall of Fame. This was in recognition, of his entrepreneurial track record in building his own successful business and for his enormous contribution to the Northern Ireland economy.
This included being a past President of the Institute of Directors (IoD), a non-executive director of the Management and Leadership Network (promoting leadership development in Northern Ireland small and medium sized enterprises), Chairman of the International Fund for Ireland (supporting new ventures) and fund raising for the restoration of the SS Nomadic, among other charities.
